What are safety security window films?
These are films installed on windows to make them less prone to penetration and breakage. They are usually made of layers of polyester film that have been laminated together using special adhesives. Moreover, they come in a variety of thicknesses ranging from 4mil to 15mil
While thicker films are generally stronger and more durable than thinner ones, advancements in nanotechnology have made it possible to create super-strong thin films. It is therefore not uncommon to find thin films that are stronger than the thickest standard security film. However, such films are usually more expensive
How do security films work?
When a window with a security film is hit, the binding agent in the film keeps the glass from shattering. This mechanism is quite similar to the one employed by a laminated security glass or an automotive windshield glass
What are the benefits of installing security films?
Some of the major advantages of installing a security film are
It is barely detectable
Since these films are transparent and thin, you won’t even notice them. As such, they don’t affect the lighting of the room in any way.
It comes with privacy options
If you’re looking for a little more privacy and don’t want a transparent film, there are tinted options as well.
It is shatterproof
In the rare event that something does manage to break your glass, the film will hold all the fragments together, keeping everything from shattering all over the place.
How do we price our security film installation services?
Apart from film thickness, there are a variety of other factors that affect the pricing of our installation services. These include
The type of the film
If the film has extra features such as a sun control layer, it will be more expensive to install.
The larger your windows, the more film, and labor that will be required. This in turn drives up the cost of installation.
If your house has small French windows, we will need to put in more work than when we’re dealing with large windows that have no dividers. As such, the installation cost will be higher.
The harder it is for us to reach your windows, the more you’ll have to pay for the installation. To simplify things, we suggest you remove any pre-existing films and get any furniture that may hinder access out of the way.
